Thought For Today

24-Mar-2004

The Holy Bible King James version:

Revelation 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Ba'-laam, who taught Ba'-lac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

My interpretation:

Revelation 2:14 But there are still some things about you that are not in my will, some things that I do not like. You have among you in the church of Pergamos those that teach the false teachings of Balaam. (Balaam was hired by Balac the king of Moab to curse the Hebrews encamped in the Jordan Valley.) He seduced the Israelites to commit evil, (for which he was killed) he taught, or convinced them that it was alright to eat things that they were not suppose to eat, and he taught, or convinced them that it was alright to have sex with someone other than your spouse, or to have sex before you were married.

The Holy Bible King James version:

Revelation 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nic-o-la'-i-tanes, which thing I hate.

My interpretation:

Revelation 2:15 And you also have in the church of Pergamos those that teach the false teachings of the Nicolaitanes, (Nicolaitanes are teachers of false freedoms that go against Paul's teaching of grace) And the Almighty said: "I hate the false freedoms taught by the Nicolaitanes."

The Holy Bible King James version:

Revelation 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

My interpretation:

Revelation 2:16 Ask forgiveness of your sins with a pure heart, and with truth. If you do not truly repent, I (The Almighty God) will come quickly before you have a chance to ask forgiveness and it will be too late, you must be ready at all times to stand before me (The Almight God) with a pure heart. And I will come speaking the word of God which is sharper than a two edge sword, and my word will cut to the heart of those that are not ready to meet me.

The Holy Bible King James version all together:

But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Ba'-laam, who taught Ba'-lac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nic-o-la'-i-tanes, which thing I hate. Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
